buy homes in fall

Fall is a great time of year; leaves change colors and people keep busy with holiday festivities alongside their friends and family (among many other things). And for the new potential homeowner, it happens to be the best time of the year to buy a home. As many people become busy with fall activities, the demand for homes decreases— allowing new potential home owners more bargain power. Below are reasons why fall is a good time to buy a home if you’re in the market for one:

Less competition and a smaller price tag.

During the beginning fall months, the real estate market tends to slow down while most families begin to settle back into their daily work routines and focus on back-to-school activities.  Because of this shift in focus, there are less buyers on the market; meaning less competition for you.  Because there are more houses for sale than there are buyers, you get an upper hand when it comes to negotiating.  Many sellers who have failed to sell their house during the summer months are more willing to lower their asking price in order to get their home sold faster.

Builders’ discounts.

Looking to build a home or make some renovations? You’re in luck! Many builders take inventory around the end of the year and offer discounts on many of their materials.  Because this time of year can be slower for many builders, they’re more willing to offer incentives to buyers to stay busy.

Note: Decorating a new home is great during this time of year due to the many holiday and end of year sales going on.

Make the tax break cut.

Believe it or not, buying a home in the fall season still allows you to make the cut for homeowner’s tax breaks before the end of the year.  Homeowners receive various tax breaks like mortgage interest deduction, property tax deduction and more.
